Major Okuma Spindle Drives start from the earliest SDU Series. The second generation VACA-D8, D11, D22 are still used on OSP5000 series controls. VAC2 Spindle Drives, include VAC2-D8, VAC2-D11, VAC2-D22, VAC2-D30 and VAC2-D45 are the spindle controller between VACA and VAC3. By using optical communication port, VAC2 can be used either OSP5000 or OSP7000 controller.
VAC3 series spindle drive have been the most popular and stable drives for a long time. It also comes with VAC3-D8, D11, D22, D30 and D45. Most Okuma OSP7000 and E100 controllers use VAC3 as spindle drive.
VAC4 and MIP Drive are not widely used.
VAC5 drive was designed to replace the VAC3 series Drive.
The most newest Okuma machines use the integrated drive, which combines spindle and servo drive in one unit. Physically, they are more compact and but more complicated.
