With newly installed four-axis systems, it is common to encounter a situation where, after the axes complete one full rotation, the coordinate values do not reset from 360 to 0 but instead continue to accumulate, effectively behaving as linear axes. When this occurs with Mitsubishi M70/M80 systems, we should focus on checking the following parameter settings.
1. Check parameter 1017
This specifies whether the axis is a rotary axis or a linear axis. When set to a rotary axis, the axis
is controlled using the rotary axis coordinate system. The type of rotary axis is set in parameter
“#8213 Rotary Axis Type”.
1017=0 (linear axis)
1017=1 (rotary axis)
2. Parameter: 8213 Rotation Axis Type
Specifies rotation type (next rotation active/day active) or linear type (workpiece coordinate linear
type/all coordinate linear type). This parameter is valid only when #1017 rot is set to 1. Parameter
setting range:
8213=0 (Next rotation disabled)
8213=1 (Next rotation enabled)
8213=2 (Workpiece coordinate linear mode)
8213=3 (All-coordinate linear mode)
